Community Surveys :
All community based surveys starts with the recognition of the relevant community leadership, both formal and informal structures and possible gatekeepers. These structures are consulted to obtain cooperation and agreement about the survey. Within the context of high crime levels and associated distrust on community levels in South Africa, a process of community liaison is essential to the success of the research process and safety of fieldworkers.
Interviewers can also be recruited locally to contribute to the local community empowerment and skills transfer. A trained Progressus fieldwork team can also be utilised, matching the language requirement of the surveyed community to allow for interviews in the respondent’s home language.
A layered supervision structure are always in place to supervise and manage all fieldwork activities. This will include a field monitors that will accompany interviewers in the field and monitor all field activities.

Biomedical Studies:
Research that requires health related biometrics can be undertaken within communities, with high levels of accuracy, with compliant bio-medical sample processing, storage and transport. Suitably qualified clinicians will administer all bio-medical data collection, while trained fieldworkers will conduct interviews linked with bio-medical markers.
